With so much material to "teach" these days, we often forget to incorporate key proven principles into our curricula — namely active recall, metacognition, spaced repetition, and interleaving practice.
There are a lot of options if you want to bring programmable robots to your classroom. One I discovered this summer and have fallen in love with is Sunburst’s Robo Wunderkind. It is a build-a-robot kit designed to introduce children ages six and up to coding and robotics as well as the fun of problem-solving and creative thinking. The robot starts in about thirty pieces (there are so many, I didn’t really count them).

Educandy is a wonderful site for creating educational games. Educandy is a very easy to use and all a educator has to do is enter the questions for and Educandy turns them into educational games/activities (i.e. matching, word search, memory, etc.). Educandy can be used to teach any grade/subject and is ideal to integrate Game Based Learning into the classroom.
